What is a denture?

Dentures are used to replace lost or missing teeth in the mouth. They can help patients enjoy a healthy diet, bring back a happy smile along with the confidence that comes with it and they can have a massive impact on a person’s quality of life. We use only the highest quality laboratory to construct the dentures for our patients.

Dentures are made to measure for each individual patient and made to fit snugly around the gums and natural teeth if present also. It is a simple process starting with impressions of your mouth.

What dentures are there?

At Galway Dental Clinic, we provide two types of dentures. 

1. A partial denture is used to replace lost or missing teeth and is usually made from an acrylic material or preferably cobalt chrome. It may be fastened to your natural teeth by metal clasps.
2. A full or complete denture is used when a patient has no natural teeth remaining. It can help given shape and support to your cheeks and lips.

Advice for denture wearers

It is important that even with dentures you still attend Galway Dental Clinic to regularly have them checked for wear and tear and to also check your mouth is still healthy.
