Veneers

What is a veneer?

Veneers are thin layers of tooth-coloured material which adhere to the front of the tooth to permanently improve the appearance, colour, and shape of the tooth. They can even be used to close small gaps in teeth when orthodontics may not be suitable.

What is involved?

They require very little preparation to the tooth and so sometimes are chosen over crowns where suitable. Some of the outer layers of the shiny smooth enamel is removed from the tooth in order to prepare the tooth for the adhesive to permanently bond.

Veneers are usually done over two visits at Galway Dental Clinic.

  1. The first involves an impression or mould to be taken of your teeth which is sent to the laboratory with details of the shade required.
  2. The second is the fitting stage when a special adhesive is used to bond the veneer to the tooth permanently.
